Bettina Willie is a Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Utah State University and a member of the scientific staff at Shriners Hospitals for Children-Salt Lake City and Montreal. Dr. Willie earned a doctoral degree in Bioengineering from the University of Utah and performed postdoctoral training at the University of Ulm and the Hospital for Special Surgery. She previously worked at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin for eight years and McGill University for over ten years. Her research program uses multidisciplinary approaches, including state-of-the-art high resolution imaging technologies, to study the causes, detection, and treatment of skeletal fragility. She is particularly interested in understanding how the local mechanical environment influences bone formation and regeneration, especially in rare bone disorders.
